First came a voice with questions. Then from black to haze to the view of a face nearly too close for comfort I could see him. Short back and sides hair, dark and well kept, maybe even freshly cut, his questions were technical and pinpointed my methods. Each brief answer I gave was followed by another brief question from him. He appeared satisfied with my replies and concluded his questioning by saying: 'They won't be able to catch you.'
Another Time
We lay in a field, our armour broken. Chainmail painted with rust and blood. The cloaked man goes round each one of us to bleed us back to health. Some speak of defeat and the impossibility of our kind surviving. I rub my brow with a clenched fist to try and clear my vision. We're in a large white tent. The flaps are pulled back revealing lush grass bathing in a fiery sun. The cloaked man approaches me with a dull grey dagger and soiled hands. I tell him I'm scarred enough and need to return to battle. He nods then moves on.

Deep dark blue gave the room its ghostly hue. I strolled across soft thick carpet towards a window. The curtains were pulled back and the window was open. A distant moon lit the vague relief outside. There was maybe a tint of yellow, I can't quite remember. A white lotus slowly curved from left to right growing and mutating as it approached. Growing closer I could see a face at its centre. A voice crossed my mind asking if I could see the drowned. I did not

There were floating huts with thatched roofs in the near distance. As we approached they appeared to be snack bars. People sat round them on benches with their feet in the water. We pushed past the first couple then stopped at one considerably larger than the others. I maintained a slight bend in the knees to keep balance as I shifted from the raft to the man made island. The other rafters did the same and we sat, ordered drinks then took long deep bre

We sat, you and I, on the dark brown bag racks tucked away at the side of the school yard. It was a wednesday afternoon and the glaring sun cut a sharp shadow off of the concrete wall behind us. We shared an intimate moment in the shade. A verbal discovery with shining eyes and shy smiles. A time when there was still so much to discover. That moment filled my night after nearly two decades. Our talk and walk through the side streets and alleys. The slowing pace as we approached the dance hall where you had a class. That kiss you laid upon my cheek before we parted ways. Every mouvement from your hand to the beat of an eyelash reappeared as cl
